Butterfly & Flowers

pink fowers butterfly 7 2014Butterfly CUBeneath all the fabric and threads is a photo I took at the Butterfly House of a gorgeous butterfly on gorgeous pink flowers.  I remembered this photo when the challenge at  last month’s (June)Art Quilters group was to use some pink and green organza to make something.  This is my offering.  I started with the photo printed on fabric and added metallic thread hand embroidery on the butterfly and leaves and flowers of the organza.  I happened to have the fabric for the border, which matched the colors exactly, in my stash.  This was my first time using Mistyfuse, so there are a few things I will do differently next time…

The piece is 14″ X 12″.   Butterfly is hand embroidered.  Border is machine pieced and embroidered.  A small amount of beading on the flowers.  Completed July 10, 2014.

About QuiltToonist

I'm a news junkie and have opinions about everything! I consider myself a folk artist because I have no formal art training and use the sewing skills I learned many moons ago to accomplish the fiber art I seem to have to express.
