Tried New Methods – Didn’t Work

I am working on the 4-H quilt and tried to free hand stitching to no avail.  I need to take some lessons on this way of stitching.  (If you don’t know, it’s a way of using the machine in which you feed the material sideways, backwards, to the front — and the stitches will be as short or long as you make them by your feeding of the material.)  Did that make sense?  Anyway, I need some help or simply just practice…that may be it.  As you see in the photo, I tried to free hand stitch the eyes and mouth of the cow.  Not horrible, but not good enough.  I am going back to hand embroidery for this quilt and will seek education for myself.  We had a great thanksgiving — eating too much of course.  I am also noodling a quilt about Karl Rove trying to keep the lid on the tea party.

About QuiltToonist

I'm a news junkie and have opinions about everything! I consider myself a folk artist because I have no formal art training and use the sewing skills I learned many moons ago to accomplish the fiber art I seem to have to express.
