Barefoot in a Kansas Corn Field

This is an Artist Trading Card made for a “challenge” in the Quilting Arts Magazine.    The challenge was called “What’s in Your Heart?”  As I grow older, memories of my childhood in Kansas become even more precious to me.    I can remember walking barefoot in the hot Kansas sandhills near Hutchinson.  (We never wore shoes in the summer.)  A lot of time was spent outdoors, by ourselves, exploring whatever.

This QuiltToon™     is 2.5″ X 3.5.”  I took a photograph of a corn field in northwest Ohio and painted it with acrylics, embelished it with beads and buttons and free motion machine top-stitching.

Completed Aug. 3, 2012.
