Spring on Samos Island

When we traveled to Samos Island, Greece, in April, the spring flowers, especially poppies, were in full bloom.  I took this photo on a day trip to the village of Kokari [Ko-CAR-ee] along the coast of Samos. (The island is about 30 miles wide by 60 miles long.)  I emailed the photo to Spoonflower.com to have the photo  (20″ X 28″) printed on fabric — which I think turned out beautifully and for under $20 – including shipping!   I learned about Spoonflower from Mary Ellen Kranz from whom I took a class at the International Quilt Festival in Cincinnati the early part of April.  This quilt will hang in our restaurant, Manos Greek Restaurant, in Toledo.

The quilt is 29″ X 39.”  Machine pieced, appliqued embroidered.  Completed June 1, 2011.   The Photo and Text © 2011
